The State government had issued notification to fill 555 new jobs ahead of elections. With the notification set to be out in a week or fortnight the Chandrababu Naidu government is running all out to reach the voters and keep them in good humour. While the 600 posts of junior assistant and computer operator in the land administration department are yet to be filled, the AP Public Service Commission had issued notification to fill these 555 posts in revenue, forest and social welfare departments in the State.The APPSC had issued the fresh notification on Tuesday to fill 18 posts in the town planning, 29 surveyor posts in the revenue, 50 posts of section officer, 330 posts of beat officer and 100 posts of assistant beat officer in the forest department and 28 Grade II welfare officer posts for the Tribal and B C welfare departments. The unemployed youth have been waiting for the government to fill the vacant posts for the past four years. Now, ahead of elections, the government had taken a call to release notifications and start filling the vacancies.
The State government is also lined up a number of developmental programmes in the next one week. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is laying foundation stone for another barrage on Krishna river in the upstream of Prakasam Barrage. The new barrage, with a storage capacity of 10 tmcft water would come up at Vaikuntapuram for which foundation stone is laid. The barrage is aimed at providing drinking water to the capital Amaravati and is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 2,169 crore.The state government is running out of time to reach out to the voters. Chandrababu Naidu is holding his Cabinet meeting today to take a call on the welfare initiatives he had lined up to win the voters. On one side he is putting up fight against the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the name of injustice done to the State to keep the State politics on fire. On the other, he is racing against time to roll out the welfare benefits to the people winning every section.
However, it is to be seen if these last-minute efforts bring votes to Chandrababu Naidu or not.
